The museum was built finished in 1880 after 7 years of construction. It was planned by Francis Fowke and adapted by Alfred Waterhouse after Fowke’s death. Waterhouse was inspired by his frequent visits to continental Europe and designed the Romanesque style facade.
Inside you find 70 million items in the areas of Botany, Entomology, Mineralogy, Paleontology and Zoology. You can find items whiche were collected by Charles Darwin itself.
