In the middle you can see the Iglesia de San Nicolás. The church of San Nicolas is worth a visit it has a eight sided dome shaped like octagonal prism. Its interior boasts five magnificent altarpieces and sculptures by Juan Pascual de Mena, the best sculptor at that time and was built in 1743.
To the left you see the “beautiful” Ascensor de Begoña. It is an elevator that connects the old part of the city with the hill behind it. For 35 cents you avoid a walk of a couple kilometers and the elevation. A cliff disconnects those two parts naturally. On the hill there is a large park and further back living space.
The elevator was built in 1943 and transports people over 43 meters.
