View from the city of Perast onto the Bay of Kotor, Montenegro, with the two islands Ostrvo Sveti Đorđe (St. George Island, the island to the right) and Gospa od Skrpjela (Our Lady of the Rock).
On Ostrvo Sveti Đorđe there is the Saint George Benedictine monastery.
Gospa od Skrpjela is the only artificially built island in the adriatic and was built by fishermen after they found an icon of St. Mary on that place. After each successfull voyage the fisherman put one stone on that location until finally there was an island.
The first church was built in 1452, but later destroyed. The church you can see on the picture was built in 1632.
