A statue of Petar II Petrovic Njegos resting on the wings of an eagle in his mausoleum. The statue sculpted by Mestrovic is cut out of a single block of Carrara marble and weighs over 8 tons.

Petar Njegos was a famous poet. But also as the ruler of Montenegro he became one of the most important people in Montenegro’s history by transforming it from a theocracy into a secular state.
