The Old Bridge was built in 1566 – so you can imagine what an achievement that was at that time – it spans 28,7 meters and is up to 22 meters high. The bridge you can admire today is an exact replica of the bridge that connected the two parts of the city for over 400 years.
Mostar and it’s famous bridge were almost completely destroyed during the wars in the 90’s. With the help of several donor states like Spain the bridge and surrounding old buildings could be restored. The bridge was finished in 2004 and was then put on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list.
Every year there is a big bridge diving competition (click here for video).
