La Samaritaine – A transformation

La Samaritaine was Paris’s biggest department store with almost 50000 squaremeters of selling space. It focused its inventory on luxury goods. It is located conveniently in the first arrondissement right at the Seine.

The building you can see (it is one of four) was constructed in the early 1900s. Today it is closed down and owned by the biggest luxury goods company LVMH (Moët Hennessy – Louis Vuitton).

A luxury hotel is planned to open in 2013 in 14000 squaremeters of the complex. Let’s hope this beautiful building will keep some of it’s charme after it has been transformed into a hotel …
