This picture has to make up for yesterday’s I couldn’t post as well – to much work is disrupting my plan to post 5 days a week

Today the historic city that was built inside the castle walls is an UNESCO World Heritage site.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful.

Street scene in Šibenik, Croatia. Šibenik has a great old city center that is partly on the Unesco World Heritage list. Because of the age the city center doesn’t have streets, but romantic little alleys with a lot of stairs since the city is built on the rising coast.

A speciality is the Inn-Salzach-Style (Inn and Salzach are two rivers around which this style is mostly found) – the houses were constructed to build a continuous ensemble, witht the facade covering the actual roof. So the top one or two “floors” are actually just a facade and the windows are fake. This created the illusion of more majestic and monumental houses.
Today some of these fake floors have been fully developed though to create more living space.
