Reflections II

The Amsterdam Conservatory moved into this impressive new building in 2008. It is situated right at the harbour next to the main Public Library of Amsterdam. The building was designed by Frits van Doungen based on the “Engawa model”, a japanese way of design with the hallways next to the outside walls and the class rooms and concert halls in the middle. This allows students to study with a minimum amount of noise to disturb them.

The Conservatorium van Amsterdam is the largest and most diverse conservatory in the Netherlands.
