View from a window, that was carved into the over a meter thick castle walls of Split, Croatia, long after they were constructed by the Roman emperor Diokletian in the year 300 or so.
Today the historic city that was built inside the castle walls is an UNESCO World Heritage site.

I kind of see cats in the shape of the ironwork ornamentation at the base of the window. Am I just projecting the fact I am a cat person onto your photograph, or am I seeing this as it is?
I checked the larger original and to be honest I don’t see them
(but that doesn’t mean much
)
I am sure it is just me. The ironwork appears to me like a row of cat profiles. Overactive imagination….
i see “overactive imagination” as a good thing
A picture of conflict for me. The barred window making me think of prison and the beautiful tree on the outside – in freedom.
true
I love antiquities. I’d love to enjoy the room and the window’s view in person.
Actually that was just a wall
I think there was a building in the past but it was torn down … – now there is just a public place there
Nice view
Thank you!
You’re welcome
Such imagery. A person caved in and guarded would see this as a different world outside the walls, a life outside the gates. Very spiritual. This reminds me of Nelson Mandela and Robben Island.
True – it is always a matter of perspective …
Great capture of color, texture, and depth that gives me a feeling of confinement.
Thank you! It gives me the same feeling …
